The Animal Welfare Society is teaming up with 15 Veterinary Clinics in Southern Maine to provide low cost spay and neuter surgeries during the month of February 2011 for cats. The AWS Spay Day Campaign coincides with the Humane Society of the United States Spay Day on February 22. Thanks to the wonderful AWS volunteers, veterinarians and their staffs over 500 surgery slots are available for low income cat owners. If each of these unaltered cats had produced 2 litters of kittens per year over the next three years and if 3 kittens had survived each time there would be an additional NINE THOUSAND unwanted cats in Southern Maine. If you or someone you know is low-income and needs help spaying or neutering a cat, call the Animal Welfare Society at (207) 985-3244 ext. 120.
