Adoption

The Animal Welfare Society has a large selection of dogs, cats, and small animals available for adoption. The low adoption fee includes vaccinations and the spay/neuter of the animal. We have purebreds as well as mixed breeds available in all shapes and sizes! Occasionally, we have puppies, young transfer dogs and kittens available. Our Adoption Center is open from 11am to 4:30pm on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (closed Wednesdays). We are also open from 4:30pm to 7:00pm on Thursday evenings for ADOPTIONS ONLY.

Every animal in the shelter's care is evaluated for adoption based on its age, health, behavior and disposition.

Prospective pet owners are counseled on responsible pet care and ownership. We make every attempt to assist them in choosing the right companion to fit their living situation and lifestyle. We want to help you find a companion for life!

Our adoption fee includes:

  • Spaying / Neutering of the animal (dogs, cats and rabbits)
  • Heart worm and leukemia testing
  • First series of vaccinations, including rabies
  • Internal and external parasite control
  • Free health exam by a local veterinarian
  • A free carrier, collar, and ID tag for cats
  • A collar, leash and discounted obedience classes for all dogs

We require that every animal we place is neutered or spayed in order to reduce pet overpopulation.
