Special Needs & LTR Cats

The Animal Welfare Society has cats of all shapes, sizes, colors and personalities. The cats below are Long Term Residents, meaning they've lived here for 6 weeks or more. These purrr-fect loving felines get special attention to highlight their uniqueness, so click on each picture and read these cats' personal stories. You might find your perfect match! In addition to the cats at our shelter, we have off-site adoption venues. Visit these cats at our Satelitte Adoption Centers. See more cats by clicking here.

Can't adopt right now? Please consider a tax-deductible donation to AWS to help us continue doing great things for homeless animals.

Adoption fees:

- Kittens less than 6 months old are $99.00 or two for $160.00
- Cats 6 months and older have their fee waived.

If you are interested in adopting, please print and fill out an adoption questionnaire or stop by the shelter to do so. All cats at the AWS are spayed or neutered, have had their first series of vaccinations, leukemia testing, internal and external parasite control, a cat carrier, and a collar with ID tag. In light of pet overpopulation problems in Maine, the AWS makes sure that all of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered before going into their new home.
