Elizabeth Spaulding
On September 13, Maggie, Rob, and I will be strutting our stuff! Before she became a Spaulding, Maggie was an unclaimed little girl at AWS and received expensive medical treatment (spaying and the removal of her severely damaged left eye). Today she's a very happy, active "pup" who can't imagine how life could be any better with two eyes.
Your support will allow more animals to receive the medical care they deserve. Please be as generous as you feel you can be. ?
Many thanks for your support. Please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Howdy All!!
The ladies (Lilith and Sapphire), along with Jay and I, are asking for help in raising a few dollars for the Sadie Fund of the AnimalWelfareSociety. The Sadie Fund is there so that no animal is "put down" based soley on the cost of treatment. AWS of Kennebunk is very active and one of the few ways to adopt a retired greyhound without leaving the area--seals the deal for us!!
A dollar or two (more! heehe) will keep the pep in our step as we walk the Maine coast during Strut Your Mutt before returning to Houston. We are truly enriched by our "rescues" and hope to pass that blessing along.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient and easiest way to support our fundraising. I, personally, have used it for the fundraising efforts of others with nothing but great results.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! (Santa remembers things like this! Haha)

I'll be "Strutting" at least 2 of my AWS shelter dogs - I usually have to carry Swiffer, as she is still so frightened of people and dogs. And I'm not sure that Tucker will be in good enough shape to do a 2 mile strut, but we'll see. Buddy and Millie are always up for this event, though. Please support us and help the shelter care for our many temporary "guests" while they find their forever homes.
Thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Teachers' Pets

The money we raise will benefit the Sadie Fund which helps pay the medical bills for the thousands of residents that pass through the doors of AWS each year. Some of these procedures prove to be life-saving. All of them cost money. Please donate if you can!
Any amount will help us reach our goal!
Team AWS - Availables
I'm very excited to start raising money for the Animal Welfare Society. The money raised for this event goes to the "Sadie Fund." This fund was set up to pay medical bills for animals that come into the shelter. Without this fund we would not be able to help the critically ill pets needing treatment for problems such as; broken bones, and major infections or diseases . I have devoted many hours in the last five years, working at the animal welfare society, caring for the animals that are directly affected by various medical problems. Thankfully, because of people like you, these animals are able to get the specialized medical care they need. Please, help me help the animals in need with a contribution. I can't thank you enough. I am forever grateful for all your help. :)

AWS is a great shelter; they never gave up on me and finally found me a great fur-ever home with Erin and Josh. Strut Your Mutt is the least I can do to give back to the shelter so they can help get my friends the vet care they need so that they can find their 'fur-ever' homes and be just as happy as I am today!
Please help me to help them!
I know the economy is tough (Erin likes to say that money doesn't grow on trees) but every little bit helps. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. If you don't trust the web - just email Erin, she'll tell you how else to donate.
Well, I have to get back to training - 2 miles is a LONG walk and I want to cross the finish line on all four of MY paws! Thanx for your support! :)

Animal Welfare Society Counts on Annual “Strut Your Mutt” Benefit Walk to Boost Sadie Fund. See photos from the 2008 "Strut"
KENNEBUNK, ME - The Animal Welfare Society (AWS), a companion animal shelter, spends approximately $150,000 each year on medical treatments for the many aged, injured, and sick animals that arrive at the shelter facility. According to the ASPCA, many good intentioned pet owners underestimate the cost of veterinary care and upkeep of animals and are forced to surrender their family pets to shelters. Many times, however, this means that the animal has had months if not years of deferred care for medical issues – issues that will cost a shelter significant funds to correct.
Sadie, an eight year old Shih Tzu, was surrendered to AWS by her owner who could no longer afford to care for her many health problems, which included a severe skin allergy, Lyme disease and kidney failure. In spite of her many medical maladies, Sadie quickly charmed the entire AWS staff with her huge heart, tons of charisma and keen zest for life.
The Sadie Fund is named in honor of her, and donations to the fund are used to pay for needed medical treatments for homeless cats, dogs and other small animals – and give them a second chance. The Animal Welfare Society relies on private donations to its Sadie Fund to cover the expenses of treatments.
In order to continue the great work of the Sadie Fund, the Animal Welfare Society holds an annual walk, Strut Your Mutt, on Mother’s Beach in Kennebunk. This year’s event will be held on Sunday, September 13th. Each year, Kennebunk Savings underwrites the cost of the event so that all proceeds from corporate sponsors and walkers goes directly into the Sadie Fund. This year’s event marks the 15th annual walk. Contests, prizes, obedience information, and many more activities will ensure a fun day for the hundreds of walkers!
The Animal Welfare Society invites those that cannot make the event this year to become a “Paws in the Sand” friend and walk in sprit. Along with your registration donation, send in a favorite memory or photo of your best friend, or simply send in your name and sponsor one of the many AWS dogs that will be in attendance hoping to find their forever homes.
Registration and activities begin at 10:00AM with contests and prize drawings hosted by our Honorary Strut Emcee, WMTW Channel 8’s Anchor/Reporter, Shannon Moss. The walk begins at 11:00AM and covers a 2-mile round trip route. For more information and registration forms, please visit the AWS website at www.animalwelfaresociety.org or call 985-3244.
Registrations Still Being Accepted for September 13th Benefit Walk
The Animal Welfare Society is still accepting registrations for individual and team walkers for its upcoming 15th annual Strut Your Mutt. The walk, now in its 15th year, is the single largest fundraiser for the Animal Welfare Society and will be held on Sunday, September 13th at 11 am on Mother’s Beach in Kennebunk. The event covers a two-mile walk along the beach, and is attended by more than 250 people and their four-footed companions.
Due to the generosity of Morris Insurance Services underwriting the event, all pledges collected for the walk will go directly to the AWS Sadie Fund.
The Fund, named for a Shih Tzu surrendered to the shelter with too many medical problems to list, is a symbol of the more than $100,000 spent each year on treating ill, injured and aged animals at the Animal Welfare Society.
“The Sadie Fund and Strut Your Mutt don’t just benefit the dogs that need our help. Cats, rabbits, ferrets, mice…they have all been recipients of the Sadie Fund,” said Bobbi Allen, shelter co-manger. “The support from our community through this event makes an immediate difference in so many lives. I really encourage everyone that loves animals to join us!”
Walkers raising $50 and more will receive a goody bag at the event, while walkers raising $100 and more will receive an event t-shirt.
Other headlining sponsors of this year’s event include: The Colony Hotel, Kennebunkport; Harbor Consulting IP Services, Portsmouth; Maine Veterinary Referral Center, Scarborough; H.M. Payson & Co., Portland; and the Planet Dog Company Store, Portland.
For more information, or to get involved, visit the Animal Welfare Society’s web site at www.animalwelfaresociety.org. Walkers can even create their own fundraising web pages. Can’t make the event? You can still make a donation to the shelter’s Sadie Fund by calling 207-985-3244 x123.
