YOUR PUPPY CAN BE A S.T.A.R.!
The Animal Welfare Society in conjunction with the American Kennel Club is offering an exciting new program. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is designed for loving dog owners of all breeds and mixes who have taken the time and effort to take their puppies through a formal training class. S.T.A.R. represents: Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility. When you complete a training class with your adolescent (up to 10 months old) your puppy is eligible to be enrolled in the AKC S.TA.R. Puppy Program. The Animal Welfare Society Obedience Department has three Certified Professional Dog Trainers who are also AKC Approved Evaluators for the S.T.A.R evaluation. Training classes teach you how to best communicate with your adolescent puppy and provide an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs.
The AWS basic obedience is the next logical step after the S.T.A.R. Puppy class and then the AKC Canine Good Citizen program, also available at AWS. The next S.T.A.R. class begins in February. For more information call Kim at 985-3244 x 111.
