PAWS

(PAWS) Program - Pets and Women to Safety

PAWS image The Link between animal abuse, child abuse, elder abuse and domestic violence has been well documented, and the Animal Welfare Society is doing something about it! Animals are abused in 88% of the families where violence is an issue. Violence and neglect is a worldwide concern that needs to be taken seriously, so that our children and animals grow up in a safe and loving world.

By partnering with Caring Unlimited we give victims of domestic violence a safe place for their pets when they enter the Caring Unlimited women's shelter.

If you need help or know someone who needs help, call Caring Unlimited at 1-800-239-7298.

To learn more about the link between violences, contact us at 985-3244 x 109 for information or to schedule a presentation about these issues.

If you would like to foster pets for a victim escaping domestic violence, please contact our Program Coordinator at (207)985-3244 x 117 or send mail to gail@animalwelfaresociety.org.
